Melbourne advertising cars

* By last Fri (21.9), Z3.179 was running from Malvern Depot after
being out of service for a week. (It was released from Essendon
Depot on Fri.14.9 in a new ad livery for Pulse Energy). Today I took
a ride on 179 and found out why it was stowed Malvern Depot for so
long. The tram has many modified characteristics on the inside for
Pulse Energy: Synthetic green carpet throughout (as used on Mini-
golf courses); re-upholstered seats (bum pads are dark green, back
pads are light blue with flowers); light green poles; green bell
cords (replacing blue); internal ads for Pulse (above windows,
standard type); and a ~30 second loop of nature/birds sounds which
are played outside of the tram (from beneath both cabins) whenever
the doors open! The outside livery looks OK too, light colors and
animals all-over. Very interesting and worth a ride!

* A1.240 has been finally been re-decorated from it's stripped
Impulse Airlines livery (thanks for the news Andy). It is now
advertising Country Road, Pink and White on the fronts and boths
sides different. One side is mainly yellow, the other
blue/grey/white and it's currently running from Kew Depot. The job is
a real rushed one, stickers are not tightly fitted to follow panels
of the tram, A few painted white parts are really slap-dash and the
area above the windsreen at one end remains in Impulse blue.

* Melbourne Express A1.243 has been returned to Camberwell Depot from
Kew, probably as a swap for A1.240.
