I seem to recall that there is some kind of heritage listing on the
junction, meaning that it can only be a GU.

Is it confirmed that Balaclava Junction will remain a grand union
relaid? I understand there is a general tendency in Melbourne tonot replace
seldom-used special work when track is rebuilt, to save money andget the
operational and maintenance advantages of simpler infrastructure(as has
happened with our trolleybus overhead in Wellington).
