MMTB: 27 Hawthorn service and Hawthorn Depot

What were the track arrangements at Hawthorn in the era of the 27 service? Was
there a connection from Power Street to the depot allowing it to serve as the
terminus? Or was there perhaps a crossover in Power Street itself?
With the current alignment it would have been impossible for Route 27 trams to
reverse without fouling the busy track in Riversdale Road. Nor would it have
been possible to enter the depot except from the west. Neither scenario seems
very likely.
And what is the history of the depot itself? Was it built by HTT as an electric
facility in 1916, or did it already exist as a horse-tram installation? And did
its closure coincide with the realignment of services in 1966 or were the two
events unrelated?
Thanks to whomever for the answers.
