Reminds me of my visit to Sydney in September 1960 when we drove
along the Watsons Bay route. The tracks had been tarred over but the
overhead was still there. The line closed the previos June if I
recall.
The 44 and the 71 were my closest "short workings" when I was growing
up in Surrey Hills. Both are now gone.
It was one of my earliest "tasks" to see all the route numbers in
service and write them down. It would have been the mid 1950s and I
would have been six or seven.
