Not to be outdone by the big city TB systems, NP used Ohio Brass
fittings. But it seemed as though certain economies were called for
at the time of installation as some old tram parts were used between
David Street along Tukapo St in Westown.
Most curves were high speed using twin line hangers instead of sweeps.
The two main right angle curves at the top and bottom of Morley
Street were provided with 3 long 30 degree sweeps.
In the city 2 X 45 degree sweeps were for the turn back at Liardet
Street.
There were two sets of electric power on / power off points.
One at Liardet Street leading to the original depot.
The second at the Cutfield Road turnback ( used for football specials
at nearby Rugby Park and two short workings each day.
These points had signals which illuminated when the points were
changed and reset after the bus passed.
I suspect that there were some parts from BICC British Insulated
Callender Cables, as some of the twin lne hangers looked different to
the OB fittings.
When the trolleybuses commenced, the tram wires from Elliot Street to
Egmont street were converted to grooved wire and TB fittings as well,
as the buses shared part of Devon Street through the city centre.
