I have considered the improvements I would make to W's around 1921-
22 Given that it would be about 10 years before the MMTB rolled out
the even more exotic W3 and W4 designs.
All these improvements seemed to do was to get the driver and
passengers further from the ground, and according to Demon Driver and
others, they were unable to perform the very neccessary task of
stopping the tram with any degree of efficiency. AND they did not
look any better either.
I have heard stories about how when passing another car, a motorman
was seen on a W4 to be waving his brake handle about in the air, the
brake being fully applied to enable the handle to be removed, but the
tram was still in motion !!!

Points considered were...........
1 Larger cabs
2 Better destination display and easier to operate.
3 Larger saloon windows with opening hopper toplights.
4 Pram carrying capabilities on aprons of cars.
5 Improved braking.
6 Better trucks of Maximum traction design.
7 Centre saloon equipped with convertable side panels and windows
which could be raised into pockets in the ceiling of the car.
8 Lowered step into driver's cabin resulting in more headroom
entering the cab avoiding head and brain injuries.
9 Better livery.....Red and Cream.
10 Tail lights.
11 Improved interior appointments.
11 Had to be built in Australia.

So Gentlemen, My proposed car..............
