Of course the best job advert was in the trams themselves
up on the curved ceiling ad panels,
Cleverly situated where anyone lying on the floor could
read them.
A fresh faced keen young man with toothy smile and
immaculate uniform gesticulatingly implored us to
.......... "JOIN THE TRAMWAYS"
...........
Then added ........"YOU WILL BE SURPRISED"
!!!
I must point out that the above adverts are in the most
part not the actual things, I made them up give you an idea of how it
was.
All the adds would be in the same issue.of the same
paper.
Picture attached shows one keen Kiwi who responded
to the adds.....
Jovial.... Devil may care....
Keen, WGB ( In the old livery ) Winds up W5 800 through
Royal Park on the way to West Brunswick.
(Pic from a slide by Ray Marsh)
Whats that ???
What is 800 doing on 55's , as it was a
Brunswick car and I was a Brunswick driver at the time.
Ah, but thats another
story................
WGB
