The push to the Western Docklands

During lunch from the RFS today, I decided
to tram it across the Collins St bridge
Following being deposited at the terminus, after
collecting some befuddled passengers at the bridge apex stop, I walked along to
the docklands light railway ROW.
There was no apparent connections to Collins St
despite the fact that the tramway extended past the terminus and across "Stadium
Drive" ( being re/signposted whilst I was there). Probably a 100m gap exists! -
all sealed in loverly consrete.
Looking northwards the track appeared to be
complete, with overhead, to at least about level with Bourke
St.
Walking south, I was confronted by a curve which
took me to heading east. Tram tracks to this stage were in mass concrete but
this had not yet reached the extremities of the road.
From the exit to these curves to the next
intersection (about to be signposted "Stadium Drive" -"Footscray Rd in your old
directories" ) the tracks were in the process of being thermit welded prior
to mass concrete enclosure.
From here the double track went via a dog leg
diagonally thru a very busy road junction - Flinders St ext & Wurundjeri Way
(Docklands Hwy), to the present termini in Flinders St
extension.
No indiginies sighted in area or around their
Fukkarwee Bird statue.
Hoping this report has been beneficial to out of
towners
Will investigate the other half next lunch
time
Have to cut a few notches and get
going
Regards
Kactus
