This morning (Sat.16.11), 8 of the PTC Heritage tram fleet was taken out of
Preston Workshops. They were then transferred in two lots to Hawthorn Depot.

First lot departed around 8am, and was X2.676, Y1.613, W2.510 & Y469. They
were escorted by R10 (the big Yarra Trams truck) and a smaller Yarra Trams
ute. They ran via Miller St, Plenty Rd (shunt), High St, Queens Pde, Smith
St, Gertrude St, Nicholson St, Victoria St, Latrobe Street, Spencer Street,
Flinders Street, Batman Ave, Swan Street to Power Street. Then shunted at
Power Street and then ran into the depot.

The second lot departed around 10:50am, and took the same route, with same
escort. It was V214, X217, W380 and W1.431. This being the better
transfer, with all four trams in a brown livery. Certainly a sight to see
V214 and X217 bouncing around on the tracks.

At Hawthorn depot, they were placed in no.2 and no.3 roads as follows:
(rear of shed) No.2 Road: 469, 613, 676, V214 (door)
(rear of shed) No.3 Road: 510, 380, 217 431 (door).

A further 9 trams will be transferred at a later date to go into No.1 and
No.4 roads at Hawthorn depot.
