ALL PLEASE READ (Snip those trailers!!!)

Hi, mates!

Okay, it's time for my monthly message, which I'm entitled to do as your
fearless listowner. It comes with the territory (and I don't mean Northern
Territory).

Posts are getting very long and out of hand. It's very easy to add a line
or two here to a previous message--especially if you're subscribed to
receive "individual e-mails". But before you hit "Send" or "Return", please
take a look at the rest of the message. Is it really necessary to have
everything the previous three posters wrote? In nine times out of ten, it's
not. Usually only the most recent response is necessary, to give the reader
continuity. He/she can always refer back to the other posts for additional
background.

Another thing we don't need are all those Yahoo! messages and similar crap
at the bottom.

So highlight what you don't need and hit control-X (or Delete) and then hit
"reply". Another way of doing this--as least on Outlook Express, which I
have--is to highlight the message you are responding to, hit "reply" and a
new screen will open. Then type in your reply and hit "send"

Long messages also consume a lot of bandwidth and fill up your inbox
quicker. And if you don't purge messages or move them to folders, you'll
reach overcapacity and your server will start bouncing messages sent to the
group.

One more thing: If you see that the subject line is [as an example]
"Brisbane" and the last five or six posts wander off into discussing
"Citadis Trams Around The World", change the subject line to reflect the new
thread.

Remember too: If it ain't about TramsDownUnder (such as "Windsplitters" or
truck tare weights, it's a TAN or OT post. Please indicate this in the
subject line.

Cheers,

Milantram
listowner
