3) Where the new link joins the tracks at Docklands Esplanade,
there
is a ludicrously sharp S-bend. In fact so sharp that they've had
to dig up a 20m length of the new track that has lain unused for
the last 2 years or so to connect it up. What a waste of money. This
must be the first bit of track pulled up before it ever saw
regular services.

I think the Kogarah to Sansouci steam tramway had several kilometers
of track laid for the electrification of the line in the mid 1930s.
It was laid to tramway profile while the steam tramway was railway
profile. The idea for electrification was scrapped and the lines
never saw a single tram.
