This map covers the area of the previous
picture.
The Tiger Moth would have been above Elliot Street
and the view would be right to left on the map.
When a teenager, I inked in all the tram lines on
this map which has now well and truly reached it's "use by
date"
The lines heading up Liardet Street towards
Pukekura Park were taken up many years before,
At one stage it was the intention to run the trams
through the park to Vogeltown, a plan which did not endeer itself to many
!!
It would have been a reserved track "Light rail"
affair.......Years ahead of it's time !!!
Later on, the trolley buses were also supposed to
go to Vogeltown, ( It was even on the TB's destination
blinds.)
Bus this too got torpedoed in favour of diesel
buses.
Also near the railway station believe, was a three
track section, back in the days.
