Re: Re numbering system

When the Z class cars came into service the Tramways
Board decided to re-start the numbering system at 1.

First in service cars encountered were the VR cars -
so 53 was (actually) renumbered 700 and 52
(notionally) renumbered 701.

Next set of numbers encountered were the L's. Here's
a shot of L101 at Preston on a fan trip in 1979 with
the usurper beside it ...
