Contrary to reports in "Urban Transit", where it states the city
ciircle cars can do on 25kph and the Green W's 45Kph, in fact, the
unmoded CC can do 30kph whilst all stage 2 moded cars (Green and the
4 CC cars done) are limted to a rediculous 35kph which, whilst
perfect for the CC's, is agony on the Green cars, we are working on
trying to get the speed lifted to 45kph, this will depend on the DOI.
This informative mag also stated M>trams will not be re-introducing
W's, (this might be true if the takeover happens first!!), well I can
tell you that, when we have had meetings to arrange changes in the
moded cars, M>trams have to be involved as it effects their cars too
and some have already started to be rehabed.
Back to Latrobe street, it was my idea to call it rte 14 to avoid
confusion with passengers travelling along Clarendon St etc.,
unfortunately, the DOI have stated that, contractually, the cars must
show Rte 12 no matter where they go!! Bureuocracy at it's most
ridiculous best! The reason the don't run in Collins St YET is, there
is only three in service and the speed limit, they are running
special additional tables at a "relaxed" time frame that is
impossible to keep to if you happen to pick up a passenger. At least
they are back and we are working on the powers that be to get things
back to a sane operating speed.

Since when has route 12 gone along Latrobe St?

Since they built the superstop at St Vincent's Plaza, it is
apparently not possible for pole trams to go through (meant to be
able to from Gisborne St to the siding at Brunswick St). Therefore
it is running as route 12 (or 14!) to LaTrobe/Nicholson Sts
