Maybe the last of my own Wellington pictures - 4

Looking south from the Kelburn Viaduct towards Highbury in the spring of 1960,
we see two BUTs (I guess) negotiating the hairpin loop of Glenmore Street on
route 12/13. The red trolley will presently arrive just to our right at the end
of the viaduct, then immediately turn left to enter a tunnel. Thence it will
either climb to Karori or pass through yet another tunnel to finally arrive in
Northland, above and behind our right shoulder.
Its silver sister will descend the valley about 3/4 mile to the bottom entrance
of the Botanical Gardens. If it is a 12 from Karori, it will then turn right to
wind down Bowen Street and arrive at Lambton Quay within sight of Parliament.
If a 13 from Northland, it will continue northeast along Tinakori Road to take
the long way around through Thorndon.
We are standing here above the city's most famous tectonic feature, the
Wellington Fault. This defile follows it, as do the west shore of Port
Nicholson and the west side of the Hutt Valley to the north.
