John Street, 1961, looking southwest past the Winter Show building towards the
heights of Brooklyn. I won't venture a guess on the number of this Double
Saloon, except that it appears to be higher than 200. In a moment it will turn
right into Wallace Street, thence Cuba, Manners and Willis Streets, Lambton
Quay, Railway Station. Since the sign appears to read "Thorndon" it must be off-
peak and the tram has come from Newtown Park. During peak hours the 11 operated
from Railway to "Wallace Street" at the corner of John Street and Adelaide
Road, just a block from our picture, while the Thorndon - Newtown Park service
ran as No.4 via Cuba Street, Vivian Street and Kent Terrace.

At nighttime, the 11 wore three green lights, while the 4 shone blue-red-blue.
