Yes interesting Camberwell = V. If you look at the first 5 letters in
Camberwell were already taken so maybe they just used V because it is in
the V Riversdale Rd and Camberwell Rd.

Hanna Street = A could be that H was taken and therefore A was used. I
have also heard it said that the aussie pronunciation dropped the "H"
and thus it was 'Anna Street" depot

Also I notice some lists of route numbers being posted, Rail News
Victoria published a list a few years ago that I had compiled from
various sources. I could dig it up and post if anyone interested.
