-Gee those curve/straight/curve turnouts are ugly,re route
numbers, does anyone know what the route numbers were on the original
South Melbourne&St.Kilda Beach route,my understanding is that this
was through routed to East Coburg and that South Melbourne Beach was
a 6 minute service alternate cars going to East Preston and West
Preston and that this arrangement ceased sometime in the
early '50s,do I recall some mention of this in TDU recently?Perhaps
one of our oracles can answer this question for me.Mal,I can see that
one of these digital jiggers is the answer to a gunzels prayers,it is
great to get this really topical stuff up so quickly, see also Andy Bs
Combino pictures, maybe Melbourne Combinos should be Dombinos??
Demondriver is a bit downcast about the footy result last night but
spirits were lifted slightly by the sight of tramcars with crush
loads picking their way cautiously through the thousands of
jaywalkers in Wellington Pde.after the game.Regards to all TDUs,Peter

It's not very often that the central city has the main
tram tracks relayed.
Here is the scene in Swanston St last night at about
5pm.
Swanston St from LaTrobe to Victoria is being relaid -
except for the points at Franklin St.
