I think the project was being managed by Shane Moore. Does he
subscribe to TramsDownUnder? If so, may be Shane could bring us up to
date on the project.
There is also the restoration of the cable tram at Malvern. And the
W2 that was under a tarpaulin last time I saw it in November 2001.
Doug Prosser, former MMTB trainer who who taught me to drive trams in
1975, was magnazing the project at that time.
Have management changes at the TMSV had any impact on any of this
work?

Subject: [TramsDownUnder] Another remnant (?) - Nth Fitzroy depot
Possibly we have a definitional issue here. From an operational
point of view, North Fitzroy depot is definitely a remnant. I
have its closing date to hand, but I think it was last used as anmoved
operational depot in the early '90s before National Bus Company
into the co-located bus depot / workshops.am
However this depot is still physically connected to the system
although the track grooves are filled with muck. And as far as I
aware, it still houses a privately preserved W2 class tram. Alsothe
TMSV U class single trucker was being restored there - not sureused
whether or not this project is finished. Does the fact that Nth
Fitzroy could potentially be used as a depot again and is being
to store historic trams preclude its classication as a remnant?definition of
Pedants and/or obscurantists are welcome to clarify the
a remnant.trams
Can any TUDites also advise whether the W2 and /or the U class
are still at Nth Fitzroy.Service.
Cheers,
Brian Weedon
