On the cover of the new T&S is a pictures which
purports to be taken at St.Kilda Rd and Nolan St.It
is,in fact,St.K.Rd and City Rd.At that time Alexander
Ave-City Rd. crossed on the level and the South Melb.
Beach diverged at that point into City Rd and after a
very few yards turned into Sturt St.It was thus when I
started on the M&MTB in 1966 and for some time
thereafter[dates Jeff?],the points that 801 has just
cleared were always manual,I seem to remember being
told that this was to reduce the chance of a down car
diverging accidently into or in front of a car on the
up,the Tramways seemed to have stopped worrying about
this possibility because the new junction at Nolan
St,Southbank Boulevard now, always had electric
points.I've attached the shot.PBruce.
