Coupled sets: Citadis and Combino

I heard a "shoe shop" rumour that a coupled set of Combinos
was "tested" last month from Preston Workshops towards Bundoora.
Are the Melbourne Combinos capable of multiple unit operation? There
was no visible sign of any coupler on 3501 at the official launch
this morning.
It was also reported that a coupled set of Citadis had been "tested"
within the grounds of Preston Workshops.
Perhaps we are thinking of a test of a "defective" tram being towed
by another?
I would expect that both Combinos and Citadi (is that the plural of
Citadis?) operate in coupled sets on overseas systems.
