Thanks for the tip Paul. Yes, it did happen.

The first car - 3501 - has been named Robert J H Risson in honour of
the former Chairman of the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board.
He fought and won to keep Melbourne's tram system when the rest of
Australia was scrapping them wholesale.
