I tried a few times to send this attachment,983 in Bourke St
at
Spring,the file was
too big and yahoo told it to go away,I'm trying again.PBruce.

I for one, would like to see some shots of 983 back in the days,
seeing she is basically "my tram" for the moent as I put the staff
through their conversion to the new braking system and later, those
drivers who have never experience the pleasure of driving real
trams!

In fact, my aquaintance with this car goes back to the 70's when I
ran that "boring" (yes it was) 96 line from 75-77, prior to the Z's
taking over in 75 (and it took a while to completely remove the
W's),
983 was a Nth Fitzroy car, I had a motorist turn into the driver's
step at Victoria Pde whilst driving 983 too.

As for Rte numbers, East Preston (before extentions was 88, Preston
Depot (Bell St.) was 89 and Dundas St was 90, interstingly, in the
years before I worked at Nth Fitz, there was one run that regularly
did a trip out to Dundas Street and this was regularly run by PCC
980
and I have some shots from the 60's showing this. Nth Fitz was good
to work at though, with a full roster,(must have been the only
depot
to have one) all our DOC's were at every other depot, this is how I
worked at evry depot! Also Nth Fitzroy was rte 97.

If I dig it out, anyone interested in the shot of 980?

By the way, we are shortly to be joined by car 1012 or 1021 to keep
crews familiar until more are ready.

Cheers
Citadis
<Greg,

it was transferred to Glenhuntly in july 1975.I then made sure I
photographed it
there.
