Hello everyone,
First of all I would like to take this opportunity to say 'hi' as I am a new
member to this list and this is my first post.
I have being a tram fan for many years (probably since I was 3yo) and have
travelled by tram to school, work and play (to coin a phrase). My partner
lives in St Kilda allowing me a choice of 5 tram routes to get to her house
from my place/back home and to work. My folks live within a pleasant stroll
of the Wattle Park terminus and my house in Box Hill will soon be joined to
the system with the extension of the 109 from Mont Albert.
I have a particular interest in regional tram services in Victoria. My
father was born in Geelong and rode the Belmont trams until the last. My
uncle in his first teaching position in the Dept moved to Ballarat and
commuted from Sebastopol to the School of Mines by tram until the last tram
ran.
If someone asked me about a 'favourite tram' an answer might be..
Z3 class in original M&MTB livery as delivered
B1 class in MTA green
W7 class in M&MTB livery as delivered
S class single trucker
Y1 class
X class
Birneys from Ballarat or Bendigo
Brisbane's 'Dreadnoughts'
Sydney's R1 and coupled L's
Yarra Trams C class
Anything from Launceston
Adelaide's H class
and so on...
Enough about me. A question/request.
A colleague at work is undertaking a project to develop some history project
material for use in secondary school curriculum. Part of this project is to
include historical material, one of which happens to be a Sydney tramway
ticket from the 1940s.
Does anyone (a) have a collection of tramway tickets or (b) know who I
should contact?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Regards
