Sydney Metro - Observations of an 80 year old.

The Metro works well but getting to it, and then the tracks, is not all smooth running (walking). Ther has been a conscious decision to divorce Town Hall station and the (fairly) nearby Gadigal (Pitt St) station to lessen the crowding at Town Hall. The job has been done so well that there - (as at 23rd August) - is no signposting to enable ex Light Rail, Heavy Rail and just pedestrians, to get to Gadigal station entrance. And no "change here" mention on the Light Rail announcements. I knew where the Park St entrance was but really wanted to find the other one. Another time. Gadigal station is vast, monumental, and deep. For some reason the platforms are a long way from each other - and the entrance from the escalators - therefore needing quite a long trudge. Is there an air raid shelter or an entertainment hub also in the design? In general, know which end of the train is closest to your desired exit and access it by lift. The middle always involves long walks, banks of escalators which don't finish and start at the same place. One more note, the automatic trains stop with a jolt. The Tangara I caught at Martin Place, straight after - a nice connection - had a driver who made a perfectly smooth stop.
