They will be much later than that.
There was one more Citadis to deliver to PWS before the first X'Trapolis
carriage could be loaded and taken to Bayswater. Only one Low Loader was
to be used this evening, according to CB radio chatter.
However, approximately 15 minutes ago, that low loader being used was
involved in an accident on Bell St, Pascoe Vale.(cnr Cumberland). The Low
Loader was travelling in the right lane and part of the left lane. Some
people in a Commodore decided to overtake on the left, moved into the left
turn bay and then veered back to the right as they were paralleling the
trailer. The trailer then veered left slightly, struck the car and forced
it into the kerb.
Damage to the car appeared to be minor but there was a rather loud thud so
we are assuming that one of the left side tyres blew upon impact with the
kerb. The Drivers Mirror also appeared to be missing.
The Low Loader continued to PWS, but one of the three OD support vehicles
stopped and went back to exchange details and do the usual formalities. It
is unknown whether this trailer will reload again tonight prior to at least
an inspection. While I'm sure it's fine, OD loads are not the sort of
things you mess with.
Chalk up one more crash for the Citadis fleet :-)
