I agree - as well as being the most fortunately located 'new' tram museumin
Australasia (ie not inheriting original track and depot, like Bendigo),the
STM is the best provided for in terms of depot buildings. The NationalPark
line trip is one of Sydney's hidden tourist gems - pity it isn't bettertell
promoted. When I visited in 1997 and again in 1999 the proposed track
extension to the Sutherland shops was said to be imminent - can anyone
me if there has been any progress?
Same stiry when I visited in 1994. What's the hold up, is it money or local
council? Seems odd in a way, my belief was the council were very supportive
of the operation.
Well worth a visit, when I vivisted the volunteers there were very friendly
and even showed me around the back parts of the workshop. I would certainly
revisit when I get to Sydney again.
