I think I remember hearing that the wood in the
chassis of the Cal cars was called "iron wood" and came from
Australia.

I've always wondered - does Oz have the same species of trees
useful for car building that Europe and N America have? (It can
work both ways - my 1928 San Francisco home has "gum wood"
woodwork.)
