That had my curiosity up.

I lived in St Kilda for 5 years and left when the E-tag thing started happening (the last straw) and the tram rail was still there north of the regular tram terminus arcing off under the trees towards the rail line and I didn't know what it was for. It's probably all covered up by the new buildings by now.
