don't claim that they are, but they certainly look pretty similar. Of

I'm not sure where English Electric comes from. English Electric was
located at Preston, Lancashire and in Blackpool these trucks were once
referred to as "Prestons" and later as "Preston Mcguire" since the
design apparently originated with McGuire-Cummings in Chicago and
Paris, IL. M-C's 1905 catalogue shows the truck, described as No 39-A
cast steel double truck, outside hung motor for city service.
So far as Blackpool was concerned, there was a published article in
the railfan literature which suggested the sideframes were made by
Hurst Nelson in Scotland and not Dick, Kerr/UEC/English Electric in
Preston, but otherwise the trucks were made in Blackpool. I don't know
if English Electric in Preston also made the type, or even if they
also may have made kits of parts for Blackpool. Also, I would check
the wheelbase of the Fremantle car truck and of the Blackpool truck
very carefully. I think the Blackpool versions were 4' wb and I would
be surprised if the Fremantle would have been different, especially by
such a small amount. Can anyone confirm?

Hi Bruce,base. I
The only shot of those trucks under a WA car is of Fremantle #35 in
"Destination Subiaco" and they were in fact EE trucks on 4'1" wheel
don't believe it survives, Perth cars 31-34 were brush trucks and Ithink
34 might be around, they were not what you call attractive trucksbut,
beauty is in the eye of the beholder.checking
I'm sorry for the mix up, teavh me to be a smart arse without
first.Brush
GregGreg, I'd be most interested if you have any good pics of the
thetrucks you mention. At what date were these purchased?
And Roy, does PETS have any car bodies that should be fitted with
Brush trucks?
Bruce
