I cant recall the exact details, but I believe that the rail connection was only use fairly early on and perhaps under similar conditions to that employed in NSW for haulage of tramcars over the rail system (ie dead slow).

 

Details are included in the 1960's history of the line, I never was able to get a copy, and only borrowed one about 12 years ago or so, so it's been a long time since I read it. I am sure there are a couple of boffins out there who have better info???
