This photo was taken on the last day of operation
of Z3's at North Fitzroy.Due to the St Kilda light rail opening Z 3's were being
transfered to Essendon Depot where they were exchanged for W class trams,which
were then transfered to Kew Depot where they replaced the A class trams
with pantograph's which were then transfered to North Fitzroy to
operate on the light rail ..A number of A class trams were also transfered
to South Melbourne Depot as well for use on the light rail.
The reason for these transfers came about due to
industrial action at Com - Eng Dandenong which delayed the B class
trams from being ready to enter service in time. Trucker
