The file download worked just fine on both Netscape and IE. Thanks.
Bill sent me a note explaining the different image filetypes. Indeed, the
problem seems not to be with each individual's JPEGs, but rather how
Yahoogroups interprets them technologically.
Unfortunately, there is no good way to explain to Yahoo that it is their
software that is creating the problem, not the images sent by the vast
majority of listmembers. Until Yahoo owns up to this, the best advice I can
give all of you good listmembers is to re-save your JPEG images before you
send them to make sure Yahoo doesn't screw up your best efforts.
Bill, thanks for your help. What you have done has increased my awareness
of the various filetypes, protocols and problems out there.

when one does this and finds that the attachment is shown as
"Application/Octet-stream". This is an indication that the image
is NOT a true JPEG.
Since "Application/Octet-stream" is a MIME designation, it actually
appears to be an indication that Yahoo Groups is not processing IETF
RFC 822 compliant MIME messages correctly and has little or nothing at
all to do with the JPEG format of the messages.
As a test, I have uploaded the original JPEG image straight off the
Kodak photo CD to the Files section of the TramsDownUnder group. In
this case Yahoo Groups seems quite happy that it is a JEPG file
according to the displayed properties of the hyperlink.
Peter can you try downloading the file and see what your MAC softwrae
thinks it is.
Cheers,
Bill
