when one does this and finds that the attachment is shown as
"Application/Octet-stream". This is an indication that the image
is NOT a true JPEG.

Since "Application/Octet-stream" is a MIME designation, it actually
appears to be an indication that Yahoo Groups is not processing IETF
RFC 822 compliant MIME messages correctly and has little or nothing at
all to do with the JPEG format of the messages.

As a test, I have uploaded the original JPEG image straight off the
Kodak photo CD to the Files section of the TramsDownUnder group. In
this case Yahoo Groups seems quite happy that it is a JEPG file
according to the displayed properties of the hyperlink.

Peter can you try downloading the file and see what your MAC softwrae
thinks it is.
