No this was built as a horse tram. This tram was actually Ballaraat Tramway Co. Ltd No 1
 
We found the body in a backyard in Ballarat and when we started to strip back the old paint was when we found that it was the first tram to run in Ballarat.

History:
1887 Delivered to Ballaarat Tramway Co. as tram No. 1.
1902 Tramway system taken over by the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria for electrification of the
        horse tram system.
1905 Used as a trailer to electric trams in Ballarat & or to Sebastopol?
192? Withdrawn from service and sold to a local house owner for use as a sleep-out.
1985 Acquired by the BTPS and transported to the depot.
1987 Reconstruction to 1887 condition commenced by the BTPS.
1992 Work completed.
 
Heritage Significance
Only Ballarat Horse tram known to be left existing, though heavily reconstructed. One of a very few
physical remnants of the Ballarat horse tram era left. Shows nature of public transport in the
1880's.
 
Conservation Plan
Retain as reconstructed
 
Museum Status
Though an operational vehicle, use to be limited.

Funny when you look at the roof/stairs area that it is built a lot like the rear platform area on Sydney half-cab double-deckers.
 
Good looking car but no matter where the driver goes, he is in the passenger's way. I take it the car was a trailer for a tram or cable car originally? Or is it just plain poor design for passenger flow?
