SW2s: more memories

I recall three of the four standard SW2s were at
Camberwell during my time there from 1974 to 1976;
426, 432 and 478.

436 was at Kew; and of course there were the later
rebuilds 275 at Malvern and 644 at Preston.

426 was a real "screamer". This is the one that is now
in the tram museum in Perth. I don't recall anything
special about the other two. But I am sure I drove all
three.

One of the SW2s ended up in New Orleans. Where is it
now? 275 is at Bendigo and 644 at Bylands. What
happened to the other three?

I remember that 644 spent most of its time at Preston
but I recall taking a photo of it in Spencer Street
while working a 48 or a 74. It must have been on loan
to either Kew or Camberwell.

BTW; how many of the locals are still out regularly
taking everyday photos of the tram system? I did it
quite regularly "back in the days" but these days it's
mostly special occasions or if I'm out with a visitor
to Melbourne; must be getting old or something!

Paul in Melbourne.
