VR cars

I beleive the three VR cars 52,53 and 54 were an adoption of a then
modern tram the M.M.T.B. had drawn up and the railways took the plans
and built the cars to a modified W 6 standard with narrow doors.
I have seen plans for trams with the VR front design but with front
and centre doors like the Y class, and the driver seated on the right
hand side, this would certainly have made sense especially to anyone
who drove them for a shift with the centre window pillar straight in
front of their face.
Any comments from from old Essendon tram drivers
apreciated,especially cross eyed one's.Graeme F.
