to passengers to one where people had to queue up in front of a conductor's
throne while the tram sat in the stop waiting for him to lumber through a
ludicrously slow ticket system.
Not the kind of revolution that any sane man would want.
Have you noticed that the conductor's thrones have gone but they still
haven't put seats in the empty space?

When the Z class were about to be introduced to Melbourne concern's
in head office of how tram passengers would re act to front loading
of the new trams,and how to familerise passengers to the oncoming
change from the standard centre loading.It was suggested that all the
Y class be taken out of storage repainted to the new colour scheme
and run on the route the Z's were about to be introduced on.This idea
was not followed,It would have shown tram passengers that the
revolutionary new trams were not really that revolutionary after all.
