Greg,
If a design gives you all the performance you want and is operationally
perfect but you can't afford to build it, it is a bad design.
If we could have got a design like the Yapper that was cheap to produce then
it we would have bought heaps and it would have been a successful design.
In the media it's like having a "critical success" which means a magazine or
newspaper with high quality news, vigorous editorial policy etc etc but it
fails due to lack of advertising support. No matter how good it was to read,
it was a failure.

No, the Y1's were not a technical failure, they were quite successfull incars
their limited numbers. It was'nt poor production standards either, the
are far more substantial than a W and would have required a total jigcar.
redesign where as each W was a progression of the last and were of very
simply construction.
GregSo the Yappers were a technical failure due to poor production design.
Too bad. The entrance doors would have made it a much better one man
