So the Yappers were a technical failure due to poor production design.
Too bad. The entrance doors would have made it a much better one man car.

The W2 class tram fleet would not have been so large and the tram
scene in Melbourne would certainly be a lot different,had the
proposal to build a fleet of Y class trams for the Collin st
electrification gone ahead.The only reason that it did not proceed
was the time it took to build a Y class tram being six weeks,compared
with a W2 which could be built in one to two weeks.
