Yes, Unfortunately, though we would all like to see the 200 plus cars stored
at Newport and Preston, back in service, it will never happen, a large
amount have been "ratted" for parts anyway, to keep the rest of the fleet
running. Hopefully some would go to museums with equipment from other cars
going to museums that can use it to get cars with similar equipment to get
running again (Brisbane, Sydney and Hobart had same/similar). I am concerned
with the heritage cars (W1,2, 5, Y, Y1, etc.) that they be preserved,
presented and run in the appropriate manner.

By the way, the opportunity to save the bulk of those cars stored, by
selling them to the US, is long gone now that more appropriate cars for the
US are available in Milan.

Which basically means finding good homes for a lot of stuff that is
otherwise likely either to be scrapped or sold to the highest bidder
overseas?
