Hi Roy,
I was the fiend who made the fledgling Maitland museum aware of 550's
existance at Yalambie hts specila school, it was subsequently swapped for an
Atlantian bus and was "restored" by a none tram type restorer, it was
completely done by SPER, I have a big soft spot for this (and indeed all
Brisbane trams) tram and I can only hope that you guys eventually get some
Melbourne #15's and RC2 equipment to creectly operate the car. I have a shot
of her when she was at Yalambie and I might have a shot of her in service,
if memory serves me, 550 appears in the excellent (3hrs) tape of the
Brisbane Tramways. I'm just greatfull I was in the right place at the right
time. Many years ago (when I drove buses in Perth), I donated a front
brisbane destination sign and street tram information sign to the museum in
the hope they would eventually get a Brisbane car (this was back in 1977-78,
I must have known something!) and more recently donated a pile of trolley
catchers to the museum, next time you see him, say hello to Lindsay
Richardson for me.
Cheers
