And if all the comments on this thread were directed at a positive outcome instead of a negative (and as usual vented to discredit the organisation which owns the vehicle concerned) then things might happen.

Chris, thanks for drawing to my attention, my reference was to Gary's comments, but i forgot to add the word "your" between "all" and "the" in the last sentence. I apologise if you or others may have taken offense.

Whilst here, I will say this. In the 1990's a plan was established between TMSV and the Sydney Tramway Museum to restore 980. The intention was that once restored, it would be shared between both groups for periods of time. To this end a pair of B3 trucks were obtained from overseas, and enquiries were made to source various other parts that were required. Funding was promised from individuals within STM, but this was later witthdrawn and re-directed in aquiring complete overseas tramcars for STM. In more recent times several other attempts have been made to sercure funding to restore this car, (possibily in Bendigo, utilising expertise from several "experts" from STM. Unfortunately this has never eventuated to date. As Mick clearly indicates, 980's original bogies now sit under the motionless 1041 at Hawthorn.
