Some random observations:
Re 1d "Ah allus have one at 11" - I always thought that was Ballarat Bertie allus having one at 11 assuming there was once a Ballarat brewery. Ballarat being a gold mining town I would have thought it had its own brewery but have never found where it was located.
Re 1e the Rosella factory opposite Melbourne High, I have being travelling up and down past there since the mid 1960's on suburban trains and can honestly say I have never noticed any pleasant or unpleasant smells coming from there. I have travelled on trains from Taits to present day so hard to explain!!!
4 Yarra Street is now history. It has been demolished and being replaced by condo's as our US friends would say.
re 1j The Hobart trolleybus route past Cascades brewery was "Strickland Avenue" with short working "Cascades". The outer section along with an unfortunate trolleybus was destroyed in bushfires prior to final closure of the Hobart system.
Also a nice photo of North Fitzroy depot when new in messages 5072. Thanks Ian.
My worst Aroma Street although a long way from any electric tram or train lines is the cigarette factory in Chesterville Road Moorabbin East. Bus route 767 goes past en route to Southland and is always peg on the nose time. How people can live in the houses near there is a mystery to me!!!
Thankfully my journeys on 767 are mainly north towards Box Hill rather than south towards Southland.
If anyone has knowledge of tram/electric transport systems in northern Brazil north of Rio please advise. I may be going there middle of 09. ThaNKS in advance for any info.
For what it is worth.
