Hi Peter, It won't take 5 hours to ride Sydney's only tramline,but if
you have the time, travel to the southern sydney suburb of Loftus and
there you will find some excellent examples of not only Sydney trams
but trams from all over.! (the museum is open wednesday & sunday)

If I had five hours to ride the trams in Melbourne (which I did
recently) I'd ride the route 96,109,55 & city circle (more like an
oval)
