Sydney Trams Coupling/Uncoupling
  Graeme Cleak

Can some of the Sydney Members on the group recall much of the arrangements
that applied with coupling/uncoupling of O and /or P Cars, whilst in
Traffic, at the front of Depots.

For example, at North Sydney Depot, did a coupled set coming back from The
Spit or Mosman P.O. to Wynyard after the evening theatre traffic at 8.30pm,
reduce from2 cars to 1 cars at the front of the Depot, with passengers from
the Car coming off being transferred to the remaining car? Conversely, did
a second car used to get attached a through single car at the commencement
of the evening peak?

Furthermore, if yes, did this also happen out the front of other Depots such
as Waverley , Newtown & Rozelle.where routes went past the front?

I understand that this type of move was carried out at Rob Rd and Anzac Pde
with through service to Coogee, Maroubra, La Per etc.

This question was prompted by a recent observation at Glenelg at the end of
the evening peak when a coupled set of H's was reduced to one, and everybody
had to stand well clear and not allowed to board the car which was remaining
in traffic, until the 2 H's were split.

Any comments?

Thanks,
Graeme Cleak
