By that definition I am a loser.
I went to the model railway exhibition at Rose Hill today a great day out as usual. Unfortunately circumstances meant that I had to drive when I usually use public transport. Funnily enough I parked about 3 minutes walk from the future Camelia tram stop so guess how I will travel there next year. I will have to decide from which railway station I catch the tram, probably Westmead.

I do spend a lot of time in Sydney. Actually, the idea for a road tunnel between North Sydney and Balmain has been on the books since the 1950s and has been carried forward on a bipartisan basis (remember, Labor thought that better roads and a car would improve like for the working man). Initially, it was going to end in a surface T intersection at Victoria Road, Rozelle. That would have been a hoot. Personally, I'm not promoting these ideas. Better public transport is always the answer.

There's always something the Herald doesn't mention. The harbour crossing was continuing to Seaforth, but the new government, among its many cuts, cancelled the North Sydney-Seaforth section. So all the traffic that was to continue through, separated, to Manly-Warringah is to be dumped at North Sydney to find their way through Mosman, as at present. Of course it's going to continue existing traffic issues at North Sydney, but at least it will remove that traffic from Glebe Island and Harbour Bridges.
I've used this motorway and the Rozelle interchange, just following the signs (satnav not updated) and it was a breeze. The problem at Rozelle/Balmain is all the richies of those suburbs insisting on driving their cars (including driving the kids to local schools) instead of using the abundance of public transport available in their region. This brings them into direct conflict with external traffic passing though. Unfortunately, the local buses get caught up in this mess too. The upcoming advent of metro stations at Rozelle, North Sydney and Crows Nest should encourage more people to use public transport instead.
