RE: Brisbane crossbench car crossing Breakfast Creek

Hi Mal,

From the silhouette, I would say it is one of the second batch of Brill 12 Bench cars that were built without the clerestory roofs of the first batch.
Photos attached showing the difference and also the former 12 Bench trailers which were motorised and designated Light 12 Bench. The converted trailers also had the non-clerestory roof and a different seating layout.

Cheers,
Mick

There is no mistaking that car as it was the unique “Special” Dreadnought 101 with the “inverted boat” roof, which was canvas stretched over the roof ribs.
I’ve attached a couple of more detailed photos for your viewing pleasure.
Thanks Mick,
Here are a couple more for YOUR viewing pleasure - both from SLQ.
The pic of 101 is labelled as 191 on the SLQ website - presumably due to a mark on the photo.
The second Breakfast Creek bridge pic
is clearly an open 12 bench crossbench car without a clerestory roof . I'll leave it to the Brisbane experts to identify it.
