RE: Hobart Trolleybus photo - 409

Tony,

The photograph appeared in Ian Cooper’s book ‘Tasmania’s Trolley Buses’ which records that it was taken outside the Mercury building during the morning peak on Dec 27 1962.

The photograph isn’t credited to anyone in particular so it was probably one of Ian’s.

What year is the colour photo with the three buses Roger? They were such great buses, better then the rubbish we had as government buses in Sydney at the time. Good-looking and very nice to ride. Made a strong impression on me.

Mal ‘s identification is one block out, Ian’s photo 409 is in Macquarie St.

The two trolley buses are at the stop outside the Town Hall (out of view) and the Art Deco building is (was) the Mercury Newspaper office. The former Hydro Electric building (now the City Council Centre) is also in the Art Deco style and very similar in appearance to the Mercury office.

Thanks Roger,

A little knowledge (on my part) is a dangerous thing!
