I was on a British Rail HST many years ago riding up to Scotland and the
conductor was Scottish (probably Glasgow to be more specific). His
announcements were completely incomprehensible, made worse by a faulty mic
cutting in and out. At the end of every long announcement, the carriage
would burst out in laughter. To paraphrase Churchill, two great "nations"
divided by a common language.
